A considered approach
Fund selection policy
Start with your goals and capacity for risk. Then look beyond returns to the scheme, its costs and the choices available to you.

Selection process
i2 Finserv provides mutual fund distribution services, not standalone personalised investment advice as a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser. These are the factors to consider when discussing a fund. They do not mean that a personal risk assessment has already been completed for you.
- Risk profiling. Consider your age, income, financial goals, investment horizon, existing commitments, liquidity needs and ability to bear losses. Willingness to take risk and financial capacity to take risk are different.
- Scheme mapping. Compare that context with fund categories, the scheme's current SEBI Riskometer, investment objective, asset allocation and any lock-in. The Riskometer describes scheme risk, not an investor's personal suitability.
- Evaluation. Review three- and five-year performance where available, consistency across market conditions, the relevant benchmark, fund manager, AUM, TER, exit load and AMC track record. Past returns do not predict future returns, and a large AUM does not assure quality.
- Options and your decision. Understand the alternatives, risks, costs and applicable scheme documents. Ask for an explanation of any proposed option. The final decision rests with you; no return is guaranteed.
Understanding the suitability matrix
The profiles below explain common discussion categories. They are illustrative, not a recommendation or a rule matching a fund to you. Your circumstances and each scheme's actual risks matter more than its category label.
ConservativeShorter-term needs, often under 3 years
Categories to understand: Liquid, Overnight, Short Duration Debt and Conservative Hybrid.
Risks and exclusions to consider: Small Cap and Sector Funds can carry substantial equity risk. Even debt funds can lose value through credit, interest-rate and liquidity risk; Conservative Hybrid also carries equity exposure.
ModerateMedium-term goals, often 3–7 years
Categories to understand: Balanced Hybrid, Large Cap, Multi Cap and Index Funds.
Risks and exclusions to consider: Small Cap and high-credit-risk debt require particular care. Multi Cap and equity Index Funds are not automatically moderate-risk choices. Check the actual portfolio and current Riskometer.
AggressiveLonger-term goals, often over 7 years
Categories to understand: Flexi Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap, ELSS and Thematic Funds.
Risks and exclusions to consider: A long horizon does not make losses impossible or every equity scheme suitable. Sector concentration, volatility and ELSS lock-ins need separate consideration; debt can still serve liquidity and diversification needs.
Conflict of interest disclosure
A distributor may receive different commissions from different AMCs and schemes. This creates a potential conflict of interest that an investor should understand. Ask how an option relates to your goals, what alternatives were considered and what commission applies.
i2 Finserv's detailed AMC commission arrangements and any preferential or proprietary relationships are pending publication. This page does not assert that no conflicts exist or that commissions can never influence a distribution discussion.
Read the commission disclosureUnsuitability declaration process
If you are considering a scheme whose risk, liquidity or lock-in appears inconsistent with your circumstances, pause and discuss the mismatch before proceeding.
- Ask for a written explanation of the mismatch, the material risks and the alternatives available.
- Read and retain any written risk acknowledgement or unsuitability declaration requested for the transaction. Never sign a blank declaration or one you do not understand.
- Clarify the applicable checks and whether the transaction can proceed. A signature does not make an unsuitable investment suitable, waive your statutory rights or replace the applicable rules.
The firm-specific declaration form and transaction approval procedure are pending publication. Contact hello@i2finserv.com for the process applicable to your proposed investment.
